1. Quit to the main menu — the option is not in the pause menu.
2. Open Settings → Language.
3. Change Voiceover from Japanese to English.
4. Load your save; all dialogue now uses the English cast.

This main-menu-only quirk is why many players believe there’s no dub at all — they look in the pause settings mid-game and find nothing.

Japanese or English — Which to Pick?

The Japanese track is the original direction, led by Yui Ishikawa (NieR: Automata’s 2B) as Emma — a stacked cast that includes Akio Otsuka and Akira Ishida. The English dub is a full production rather than an afterthought, so this is genuinely preference: subtitles-first players tend to keep Japanese for the post-apocalyptic Japan setting, while players who want to watch fights instead of reading pick English.

The Soundtrack: Coming, Confirmed by Game Freak, Still Not Out

A question with no published answer anywhere else, so here is the source — three separate replies from the same developer-badged Game Freak account, in two threads, over a month:

• August 5, launch week, in a thread titled simply “Soundtrack”, answering whether it could be bought on Steam or streamed on Spotify: “We’re planning to release it and usually try to have OSTs available for sale/streaming at launch, but it needed a little more time to finish being mastered for standalone release.”
• August 29, in the official feedback thread, asked about iTunes: “That’s the plan! The music just wasn’t done being mastered for standalone release at launch, but I think we’ll release it fairly soon. Not sure what the status is.”
• September 3, back in the Soundtrack thread, when a player asked someone to reply there once it came out: “Yep, we’ll definitely make an announcement about it.”

Read together, that is more than a vague “maybe”: the plan covers both sale and streaming (“for sale/streaming”), the only thing that held it back at launch was mastering for standalone release, not rights, and there will be an announcement when it lands rather than a silent store listing. What none of the three replies gives is a date or a named storefront. One more request in the same thread is worth noting if you play with Japanese audio: a player asked for the lyrics to ship translated, since the vocal tracks are in Japanese — there has been no answer to that.

Checked September 18, the day after patch 1.0.12: still nothing has shipped. The game’s Steam page lists exactly two DLC items — the Deluxe pack and the Pre-Order pack — and there is no soundtrack product on the store. Until it appears, listening in-game or to other people’s uploads is the only route. We re-check the store with each patch, and since Game Freak has promised an announcement, this section changes the day that happens.

One English-audio fix did ship in 1.0.12 (September 17): “Fixed an issue where Emma’s dialogue lines did not always display correctly when the voice-over language was set to English.” Read the wording: this is about lines displaying — a text or timing fault specific to the English voice track — not new or re-recorded dialogue, and the notes do not say which scenes were affected. If you play with English voices and saw subtitles that did not match, or lines that went missing, that is the fix.
