Updated September 18, 2026 · Facts cross-checked against the sources listed below

Beast of Reincarnation has 13 chapters plus an epilogue, and real player data puts the story at about 23 hours — not the 25–35 most sites still quote. Chapters run in a fixed order — from Seedling in the Ogouchi Buffer Zone to To Bloom, Then Fall in The Capital.

All 13 Chapters in Order

Two independent guide databases list the same chapter names, so this table is cross-verified. Each chapter is tied to one region of blight-covered Japan, and you unlock regions strictly in story order.

How the Story Is Structured

The chapter names trace the life cycle of a plant — sprouting, branching, rotting, blooming and falling — mirroring Emma’s journey to cleanse the blight. There is no side-quest system: progression is a single main questline, with optional exploration, elite hunts and collectibles layered on top of each region.

Each chapter follows a similar rhythm: reach the new region with the Cleanse Walker, open up campsites, push toward that region’s Nushi or Malefact, and absorb its power before moving on. Boss order is fixed — see our boss list for every encounter by chapter.

How Long the Walkthrough Takes

About 23 hours for the story, and that figure is measured rather than estimated: it is the HowLongToBeat median across 32 real completions, ranging from 17h 24m rushed to 27h 26m taken slowly. The 25–35 hour range you will see elsewhere traces back to pre-launch preview coverage and has never matched what players actually record.

Full completion now has real data too — about 40h 40m from the first completionist submissions. The 60–80 hour figure still quoted for the platinum comes from trophy-roadmap arithmetic (two runs plus 323 collectibles), and efficient routes are coming in well under it. The full time breakdown has the per-platform splits and why the published estimates run high.

A Zone-Skip Option Is Planned — Not Shipped

September 17, 2026: the 1.0.12 patch notes announce, for the first time, that Game Freak is “planning to introduce an option after clearing the mid-game Great Wall Terraces Zone that allows players to either bypass the three subsequent zones (Pilgrim’s Zone, Matsukawa Colony Zone, and Fuji Frontier Zone) or play through them normally” — that is Chapters 4 to 6 in the table above, which would become optional after Chapter 3. The stated audience is New Game+ players who want to move faster and new players who “want to focus primarily on the story”. It is a plan with no date (“details will be announced once finalized”), so as of 1.0.12 every chapter is still mandatory and the order below is unchanged. When it ships, this page and the time-to-beat page will change with it.

Chapter Milestones Worth Knowing
