Beast of Reincarnation Shrines — All 40 Locations by Zone

Updated August 14, 2026 · Facts cross-checked against the sources listed below

There are 40 Dragon Vein Shrines, spread across nine of the game’s twelve zones — Ogouchi, Inukami River and Mount Hiei have none, so stop sweeping them. Every shrine pays three Life Fruit, every tenth shrine adds a Stimpack slot, and touching all 40 unlocks the Soul Returned trophy. Nothing is missable, and the “Divine Beasts” people ask about ordering are not shrines at all — they are the big Nushi bosses.

All 40 Shrines, Zone by Zone

Three complete location guides — PowerPyx, Game Rant and DualShockers — publish per-zone shrine counts, and all three agree in every zone. That makes this one of the better-verified tables you can find for this game. The zones below are in the order the campaign visits them:

ZoneShrinesRunning total
Ogouchi Buffer Zone0
Ancient Civilization Zone33
The Great Wall Terraces811
Pilgrim's Zone718
Matsukawa Zone927
Fuji Frontier Zone532
Giant Tree Zone436
Crater Zone137
Inukami River37
Starfall Tower138
Mount Hiei38
The Capital240

The running-total column is our arithmetic, not a published figure, and it exists for one reason: the every-ten Stimpack milestones. Clear zones in story order and your 10th shrine lands midway through the Great Wall Terraces, the 20th in Matsukawa, the 30th in Fuji Frontier, and the 40th in the Capital.

What this table deliberately does not do is pinpoint each shrine inside its zone — that genuinely needs a map screenshot per shrine, and PowerPyx’s and Game Rant’s walkthroughs already do it well. Use this page to know how many you are hunting before a zone is done; use theirs when one stubborn shrine is hiding.

What a Shrine Actually Gives You

  • Three Life Fruit, every shrine. That is roughly 120 fruit across the game for recipes that consume a handful — see what Life Fruit is actually for and why it piles up.
  • One extra Stimpack per ten shrines — four in total for all 40. Game Rant additionally says your very first shrine triggers the first capacity reward single source, and it sits oddly beside the every-ten rule both guides state.
  • The Soul Returned trophy for touching all 40 — one of the grindier entries on the platinum roadmap.

Shrines in New Game Plus

Two claims exist, each from one source only. DualShockers says the shrine count expands from 40 to 50 in NG+ single source. PowerPyx says shrines you already collected stay marked and cannot be re-activated in later playthroughs single source. The two readings are compatible — ten new shrines on top of your locked-in 40 — but nobody has published a combined account, so treat the NG+ numbers as provisional. What carries over in general is on the NG+ page.

Divine Beasts Are Not Shrines

A steady stream of searches asks which order to do the “divine beasts” in — vocabulary imported from Breath of the Wild, where shrines and Divine Beasts were sibling systems. This game has no Divine Beasts. What players mean are the Nushi — the giant beasts that rule each region, six of which carry their own kill trophies. And unlike Zelda, the campaign is chapter-linear, so their order is not a choice you make: Rangifer comes first because Chapter 1 says so. The full chapter-by-chapter list, with weaknesses and rematch levels, is on our bosses and Nushi hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many shrines are in Beast of Reincarnation?

Exactly 40 Dragon Vein Shrines. PowerPyx, Game Rant and DualShockers all publish the same zone-by-zone breakdown, and the counts agree in every zone: the Matsukawa Zone has the most at nine, and three zones have none at all.

What do Dragon Vein Shrines give you?

Three Life Fruit per shrine, every time. On top of that, every ten shrines you activate adds one Stimpack to your carrying capacity — four extra Stimpacks for all 40. Touching every shrine also unlocks the Soul Returned trophy.

Which zones have no shrines?

The Ogouchi Buffer Zone, Inukami River, and Mount Hiei. None of the three complete location guides lists a single shrine in any of them, so time spent combing those zones for shrines is wasted.

Are any shrines missable?

No. Post-game free roam lets you finish the map after the credits, so no shrine — and no trophy — can be permanently missed. PowerPyx adds that collected shrines stay marked and cannot be re-activated in later playthroughs.

Do you have to do the Divine Beasts in order?

Divine Beasts are not shrines — the phrase is a Breath of the Wild habit that players bring here. What people mean are the giant Nushi bosses, and their order is fixed by the chapter-linear campaign, so there is no order for you to choose. See our bosses hub for the chapter-by-chapter list.
