Beast of Reincarnation Beginner Tips — First 2 Hours

Updated August 7, 2026 · Facts cross-checked against the sources listed below

The three things that matter most in your first two hours: learn the parry (it powers everything), unlock the full Dodge Roll early, and rest at campsites before every boss. Death costs you nothing, so experiment freely.

Master the Parry First

Parrying is the core of combat. Press the parry button as an enemy’s attacking limb starts to swing — the timing window is more forgiving than the animation suggests. Every successful parry fills two resources at once: the enemy’s Down Gauge (their stagger bar) and Emma’s Blade Arts gauge (her high-damage special attacks).

When the Down Gauge fills, a Lethal prompt appears — hit it for a massive execution. Your basic combat loop is: parry, build the gauge, execute, and spend Blade Arts often instead of hoarding them.

Skills to Unlock First

  • Full Dodge Roll — found on the Tracking Shot skill line. The default sidestep has poor reach; the roll is a straight upgrade. Prioritize it.
  • Combo extensions — spend early SP on attack strings and combination skills rather than passives; they change fights far more than small stat bumps.
  • For full attribute routing (Strength first, in a 2-2-1 cycle), see the best build guide.

Use Campsites and the Cleanse Walker

  • Scout the campsite before a boss. Campsites are checkpoints — finding the one near a boss arena first saves you the walk back on retries.
  • Return to the Cleanse Walker regularly. Your mobile base is where you restock, grow crops, and let Koo and Kagura run research projects that produce items. Character story scenes trigger here too.

Things the Game Doesn’t Tell You

  • Dying costs nothing — no lost Amber, XP or items. Details in the death penalty guide.
  • Emma can’t swim. Water pushes you back to shore, so don’t plan escape routes through rivers.
  • Wild enemies fight each other. Let them brawl, then collect the leftovers.
  • English dub is main-menu only. You cannot switch voiceover from the pause menu — see how to switch.
  • Story difficulty still expects parries. It cuts incoming damage heavily but doesn’t remove the timing game.
  • Don’t stare at the new moon. Looking up at it for too long kills you. Yes, really.
  • Four Auto-Target toggles are on by default (Attack, Parry, Switch, Aim) — shown above. Leave them on while learning; turning them off is a self-imposed challenge, not a difficulty setting.

Early Economy: What to Sell, How to Earn

Amber is the main currency; your biggest sinks are weapon upgrades and (later) respec costs at 100 Amber per point. Now confirmed across two sources — safe to sell: duplicate soul stones, spare charms, and Ancient Books (their only use is being sold, so don’t hoard them).

  • Best Amber sources: hidden strongboxes Koo sniffs out, amber plants and crystals, golden Amber Butterflies (walk through them), and selling trinkets. Tower chests pay well — Cliff Facing Tower in Chapter 1 holds 1,500 Amber.
  • Talk to Koo at the Cleanse Walker — reported to grant up to 10,000 Amber in seconds, though sources disagree on whether it repeats. Grab it once regardless.
  • Budget for upgrades: the first sword enhancement costs 1,000 Amber and is the best early purchase you can make — details in the weapons guide.
