Unlocking the Respec Option
Respec is tied to Mikoto, the grey-haired young man who can bend Blight with his voice. During the “Power the Gate” objective at the end of Chapter 2 (Ancient Civilization Zone), you come across him mid-fight with a golem — clear that fight and he joins your comms contacts. One guide specifies a Level 12 Agile Golem and frames it as a rescue ⚠ single source; others just describe walking into the fight, so don’t be thrown if it plays out differently.
Worth knowing, and spoiler-flagged for a reason: this is not a minor side character. Who Mikoto turns out to be recontextualises the whole game — see the story and characters guide when you’re done.
How to Reset Attributes
- Return to the Cleanse Walker.
- Use the comms device on the wall by the exit.
- Call Mikoto and choose Reset Attributes.
- Pay the fee and re-allocate from scratch.
Cost and Rules
- 100 Amber per attribute point invested — e.g. 36 points cost 3,600 Amber.
- Skill points are refunded free, but always alongside attributes — a Mikoto respec cannot reset skills alone. It’s all or nothing. Partly changed by patch 1.0.11 (September 8, 2026): the official notes say the patch “enabled the ability to reset skills tied to the flower nodes of the skill tree” — the first skill-only reset in the game. The notes do not say where that option lives, whether it costs anything, or whether it reaches skills outside the flower nodes ⚠ official wording only; not yet located in-game by any source. Until someone documents it, treat the full respec as the only confirmed route for everything else.
- Emma and Koo reset separately — fixing one character doesn’t charge you for the other.
- Nushi Skills are safe: boss-absorbed powers and the Blade Arts / Bloom Arts they unlock are never reset.
- No respec limit — repeat as often as your Amber allows.
When a Respec Is Worth It
The cost scales with how much you’ve invested, so early experiments are cheap. Most players respec once mid-game to consolidate into the Strength-first route in our best build guide — doing it before a difficulty wall (Chapter 8’s double boss, for instance) is cheaper than grinding levels past it.
