Beast of Reincarnation Status Effects — Every Type & Combo
Updated August 11, 2026 · Facts cross-checked against the sources listed below

The Four Elements That Build Up
These are the only damage types that fill a gauge. Keep hitting an enemy with one and the status fires when the bar on the right side of its health bar maxes out. Both major references agree on this list.
| Element | What it does | Bosses weak to it |
|---|---|---|
| Poison | Damage over time once the buildup bar fills | Nue Malefact, Shidou and Nue, Kunai and Kirin |
| Flame | Continuous damage over time (Burn) | — |
| Acid | Damage over time, and corrodes defence so physical hits land harder | Taurus, Ursa, Door Golem |
| Lightning | Stuns the enemy (Shock) | Lacerta, Corvus, Rangifer (Ch. 5 rematch) |
These four are also the resistances your armor carries — a piece with Acid 90 is reducing that same element. Full weakness list per fight is in the boss guide.
The Physical Types That Don’t Build Anything
This is where most guides get muddled, and it took cross-checking three references to sort out. Rupture, Destructive, Impact and Explosive do not accumulate a status — they exist purely to hit enemies weak to them. Then there is Bind, which is a different animal: it stops an enemy moving.
| Type | Effect | Confidence |
|---|---|---|
| Rupture | Weakens the enemy so Emma hits harder. One reference says specifically that it lowers the enemy’s attack | ⚠ definitions differ |
| Destructive | Breaks shields, and lowers defence | Shield-break confirmed by both |
| Explosive | Weakens enemies vulnerable to it. Erymanth is weak to it | Both list it |
| Impact | Effect never described by any source — only ever listed | ⚠ listed by one of the two |
| Bind | Temporarily halts an enemy’s movement. Koo’s Binding Fang applies it; the Door Golem is weak to it | Confirmed |
Why the lists you find elsewhere disagree: one major wiki lists Rupture, Destructive, Explosive and Bind but never mentions Impact; the other lists Rupture, Destructive, Impact and Explosive but never mentions Bind. Neither is complete. The two also define Rupture and Destructive differently — one describes them generically as “weakens certain enemies”, the other as specific attack and defence debuffs. We show both rather than pick a winner.
The Only Two Combos
This is the part worth actually building around, and it is buried in one page on one site.
| Setup | Follow with | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Drenched | Lightning | Jolt — lightning damage plus a stun |
| Oily | Flame | Scorched — strong fire damage, keeps burning |
Drenched and Oily do no damage on their own. They are carriers, and there are only two of them — no ice, no wind, nothing else waiting to be discovered.
How to apply them
- Drenched — the Spring Storm katana. Its Turbulence perk sprays water on every swing, with published Drench buildup of 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 as you enhance it. This is the most reliable source and the only place any real number exists.
- Drenched or Oily — Koo’s charms. Drench and Oil both appear in the secondary-effect pool on several charm types, which is the cheapest way to run a combo build (see charms).
- Oily — a Koo skill. Confirmed to exist, but no source names the skill ⚠ skill name undocumented. If you find it, that is a genuine gap in every published guide.
One more multiplier worth knowing: Koo’s Mod: Status Effect Amp doubles buildup on enemies, which speeds up every element on this page.
About That “Water Weakness”
Several boss tables list Crimson Malefact (Chapter 9) as weak to Water. Going to the source: the same site’s own dedicated Crimson Malefact page states its weakness is None, and recommends Spring Storm or Purity for sustain rather than for any elemental advantage. The summary table is what everyone copied.
Water is not entirely fictional, to be fair — Koo has a Water-element Skill Amber called Aquatic Fang, dropped by Wolf Elite enemies in Chapter 3. But Water is not one of the four affinities enemies resist, no armor carries Water resistance, no arrow or bolt deals it, and no boss is documented as weak to it. What water actually does here is apply Drenched — it is a setup for Lightning.
Practical upshot for Chapter 9: bring your highest raw damage, not a water gimmick.
Reading an Enemy’s Weakness
Two different indicators sit on either side of an enemy’s health bar, and mixing them up is easy:
- Left side — the weakness icon. Tells you what it is vulnerable to.
- Right side — the buildup gauge. Shows how close your current element is to triggering.
The catch: the weakness icon only appears after the weakness has been identified in combat — and no source explains what performs that identification. We checked, because it is an obvious question. It is not Koo sniffing: his detection surfaces items and upgrades on the map, not enemy weaknesses. If a page tells you a specific action reveals weaknesses, ask where that came from.
When You’re the One Poisoned
Statuses cut both ways. Emma and Koo can be inflicted with Burn, Scorch, Poison, Corrosion and Shock — the same set you inflict — plus a Disintegrate state that appears only in one item description ⚠ single source.
| Fix | What it does |
|---|---|
| Emergency Medicine | Restores 816 HP and cures all status effects. Triangle/Y then L2/LT, or F then Tab on PC |
| Koo’s Mod: Healing Energy | Removes Emma’s statuses and the buildup underneath — the only thing that clears a bar before it fires |
| Extinguishing Sand | Cures Burn and Scorch, including Flame buildup |
| Antidote / Neutralizer | Poison / Corrosion and Disintegrate respectively |
| Grounding Sand | Clears shock buildup |
| Immunity Censer | Prevents rather than cures — a temporary high resistance buff. Use it before a fight, not during |
| Armor | Carries flat resistance to the four elements (see armor guide) |
Stimpacks heal 2,188 HP but do not clear statuses — if you are burning, a Stimpack buys time rather than fixing the problem.
What Nobody Has Measured
We would rather mark the hole than fill it with a guess. Not one published source gives:
- Damage per tick for Poison, Flame or Acid
- How long any status lasts, or how long a Lightning stun holds
- How much buildup a status needs before it triggers
- How much defence Acid actually corrodes, or Rupture actually lowers
- What Impact does
- What reveals a weakness icon
The game shows you bars, not numbers, which is why nobody has them. Any site quoting you a frame count or a damage-per-second figure for this game is making it up. If we ever get measured values, they will appear here with a note on how they were tested.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the status effects in Beast of Reincarnation?
Four elements build a status: Poison and Flame deal damage over time, Acid deals damage over time and corrodes defence, and Lightning stuns. Each one fills a gauge on the right of the enemy health bar and only triggers when that gauge maxes out. Two further states — Drenched and Oily — do no damage themselves but set up combos.
What does Drenched do?
Nothing by itself. Drenched is a setup state: hit a Drenched enemy with Lightning and it becomes Jolt, which deals lightning damage and stuns. The Spring Storm katana applies Drenched with every swing, and it can also roll as a secondary effect on Koo’s charms.
What does Oily do?
Same idea as Drenched, for fire. Make an enemy Oily and hit it with Flame to trigger Scorched, which does strong fire damage and keeps burning. Oily comes from a Koo skill and from the Oil secondary effect on charms.
Is there a Water element?
Sort of, and it causes a lot of confusion. Koo has a Water-element Skill Amber called Aquatic Fang, but Water is not one of the four affinities enemies carry resistance to, and no boss is documented as weak to it. Most importantly, water is what applies Drenched — it is a setup for Lightning, not a damage type you build around.
How do you see an enemy’s weakness?
The weakness icon appears on the left of the enemy health bar and the status buildup gauge on the right. The icon only shows after the weakness has been identified in combat — but no source explains what triggers that identification, and it is not Koo’s sniffing, which finds items rather than weaknesses.
How much damage does poison do?
Nobody has published a number. No guide gives damage per tick, status duration, stun length or buildup thresholds for any status in this game, and we are not going to invent a table. The only published numbers are on the weapon side — for example the Spring Storm katana lists Drench buildup values of 20 to 50 depending on enhancement level.
How do you cure a status effect on Emma?
Emergency Medicine restores HP and clears all status effects at once — triangle/Y then L2/LT on controller, F then Tab on PC. Koo’s Mod: Healing Energy is better if you have it, because it removes both the status and the buildup underneath it. Koo also carries targeted items, and the Immunity Censer prevents statuses rather than curing them.
