Beast of Reincarnation Upgrade Materials — Which Feeds What

Updated August 17, 2026 · Facts cross-checked against the sources listed below

Three salvage materials feed Bauera’s three upgrade lines, and mixing them up wastes hours: Generator Devices (blue) raise Power — swords; Memory Chips (green) raise Knowledge — everything ranged; Electronic Brains (yellow) raise Calculations — research and duplication. The Facility Module is not one of them — it upgrades the Cleanse Walker’s facilities. And if you want a total count of any of these, be suspicious: the biggest guide site’s own numbers disagree with themselves — details below.

Which Material Feeds What

The full three-line mapping — ability, colour, material, and every unlock each line gates — lives on our Cleanse Walker guide. The short version that prevents the classic mistake:

  • Generator Device (blue) → Power → sword tiers and melee damage.
  • Memory Chip (green) → Knowledge → bow and crossbow, everything ranged.
  • Electronic Brain (yellow) → Calculations → Spirit Stone duplication and Kagura’s research.
  • Facility Modulenot a Bauera material — it upgrades the walker’s facilities directly (with one unresolved boundary question; see the FAQ).

Supply by Chapter — With the Numbers’ Health Warning

The counts below are our tally of Game8’s per-chapter location checklists — the only per-chapter accounting anyone publishes single source. For Electronic Brains, the bracketed figure is what Game8’s own prose estimates for the same chapter — the two disagree in six of twelve chapters, which is exactly why this table needs a health warning at all.

Two details worth saying out loud: Chapter 11 has none of the three — do not comb it for salvage — and Chapter 5 is the only chapter where Generator Devices outnumber Memory Chips.

Why You Should Distrust Every Total (Including Ours)

We set out to publish verified game-wide totals and found that the numbers fail verification in three separate ways:

  • Game8 disagrees with itself. Its Chapter 2 Generator Device text says “a total of five” while its own checklist lists four. Its Electronic Brain prose says “around eight” where its checklist lists six, “around eleven” against eight — every Electronic Brain chapter is hedged with “around”, a hedge it never applies to Memory Chips.
  • Chapter counts and zone counts don’t reconcile. Game Rant counts Memory Chips by zone; Game8 counts by chapter. They agree on Ogouchi (six) but drift elsewhere — chapters revisit zones and split them, and no source states which convention it is using. Never add numbers across the two systems.
  • The counts move between reads. An earlier render of the same Game8 pages yielded materially different totals than the checklists show today. Whether that is page revision or rendering artefacts, it is one more reason a single-source total is not a fact.

What survives all of that: the mapping (which material feeds which line) is multi-source solid, the demand side is small (one source puts max-out cost at 30 per line single source), and supply comfortably exceeds demand on any of the counts above. Practically: pick up salvage as you pass it and you will not run short — the totals argument is academic unless you skip whole chapters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which material do I need to upgrade my sword?

Generator Devices — the blue skull salvage — which raise Bauera’s Power level. Not Memory Chips: those only feed the Knowledge line, which gates ranged weapons. If a guide told you to farm memory chips for a capped sword, that advice does nothing; see our Cleanse Walker guide for the full mapping.

How many Memory Chips are there in the game?

No source publishes a verified total. Game8’s own chapter checklists list 36 across the game, but it only ever states a total for Chapter 1 — and for the other two materials its prose and its own checklists disagree, so treat 36 as a floor from one source rather than an answer. Anyone quoting a confident game-wide number is not getting it from a source that can back it.

What is the Facility Module for?

Upgrading the Cleanse Walker’s facilities — it is not one of the three Bauera ability materials. One genuine open question: whether the Grow Chamber and Incubator expansions come from Facility Modules or from the Power line’s Generator Devices. Sources split, none says where the boundary is, and we won’t pick a side without evidence.

How many of each material do I need to max Bauera?

One source puts every ability’s cap at level 7, needing 30 of its material to max. Set against Game8’s checklist counts (36 Memory Chips, 37 Generator Devices), that would mean one playthrough covers a full max with almost no slack — but both the cap figure and the supply counts are single-source, so treat that conclusion as provisional arithmetic, not a guarantee.

Where do I find Memory Chips early?

Chapter 1 has six: on or inside the large rusty Golems near the Quarry and the Quarry Path camp, beside a cavern entrance in Tailwater Village, in a locked strongbox inside a Village Interior tent, and two in a strongbox in the tallest Subcity 01 building. As a rule they sit on rusted Golem wrecks or in strongboxes, marked as Valuables on the map.

Do upgrade materials carry over into New Game Plus?

Game8’s NG+ carry-over list includes “Amber and Materials”, which would cover these — but no second source itemizes materials specifically. See our NG+ page for what is and isn’t confirmed to carry.
